Controlled composite processing based on off‐stoichiometric thiol‐epoxy dual‐curing systems with sequential heat release (SHR)

Control of curing rate and exothermicity during processing thermosetting composite materials is essential in order to minimize the formation internal stresses leading mechanical dimensional defects samples, especially thick samples. It was recently proposed that sequential heat release, an approach based on kinetic control sequence dual-curing thermosets, would enable a step-wise release reaction therefore better conversion temperature profiles crosslinking stage. In this article, it shown experimental proof concept obtained by means instrumented mold can be used for small samples with without carbon fiber reinforcement. Safe scenarios have been defined numerical simulation using simplified two-dimensional transfer model validated experimentally.
